Architectural Louvres – Douglas Village Shopping Centre

Douglas Village Car Park is an excellent example of Crossflow Architectural Continuous line Louvre Systems.
The Car Park was badly damaged by a car going on fire at the time, and Crossflow had to replace a large amount of the existing Louvres Screens.

Over 800m2 of Louvre Screens were replaced, and the original job was the largest Louvre job in Europe at the time!
Louvres were all extruded Aluminium, with a special Golden Oak coating finish was applied, this made them look with like timber from a distance.
Our Louvres blades were all 75 Curved profiles and all inverted.
Screens were all mitred at various angles, creating a unique “Zig Zag” effect with extensive continuous line Louvres to the whole façade.

Other considerations were lines of vision, hence we turned all the Louvre Screens upside down to block vision when looking up, and to obscure the headlights of the Cars parking. Special heavy duty long span mullions were also used to span the required distance of 3.2metres, between floor levels.
We also painstakingly, had to match exactly, the original Louvre blades and Golden oak “timber effect” colour.

The project is striking and is very visible on your left once you pass through the Jack Lynch tunnel.

Project completed in collaboration with PJ Hegarty & Sons, KOBW Architects and BCL Contracts.
